I just got done trying to delete all the spam that for some reason has only been coming to the “Dolphins, Friends Of The Aquatic World” post. Manually deleting over 265 spam comments and trying NOT to delete the real comments is annoying. Yes, Frozen,I know there is a bulk action for deleting, but as I said, I don’t want to remove my actual comments.

So, because of this problem, everyone that wants to comment now is required to register an account. It’s not that difficult, so I don’t think it shall be a problem.

  1. Yay for account registration!

  2. Actually, there is one alternative that has worked wonders for me. In your comments section, there’s an option to force any comment that has multiple links in it into the pending section, meaning it won’t appear at all on your website unless you permit it.
The only thing is, I was getting pure random word spam for a while, without any links in them. The solution? Every single comment that was like this had a grammatical error. They put !, at the end of their first sentence. Every single spam comment was like this. So I put the symbol combination !, into my block box (I added one more symbol in there that they kept adding, but I can’t remember what it was now, so maybe only !, will still get past, but not whatever combination they were using), and I haven’t had a problem yet.
Yes, I have 200+ comments pending, but I just ignore them and scan through the most recent ones every once in a while to see if maybe a friend’s comment got shuffled in by accident. This makes it so you don’t *have* to register to post on my site.

Maybe a tactic that can work for you?

  3. Hmm…too much work…fuck it…lol. Registration required.

  4. I already activated your spam protection, registration or not.. you are set.
